(Compatible with many Nikon cameras, check your User's manual to see if your camera can use this system.) Use the Wireless Remote Controller System (WR-R10, WR-T10, WR-1, WR-A10), which uses radio frequencies (not a line of sight system) to trigger the shutter. This is also a line of sight option, using Infrared to communicate with the camera. Use the ML-元 remote to trigger the shutter. Use the ML-3 Modulite remote control set, which uses Infrared (line of sight) to trigger the camera. This tethers you to the camera, but, depending upon the length of the cord, you can be anywhere from 1 - 12 feet from the camera when you take the shot. It would be nice to not have to deal with the cable release for some of the night time work.Use a cable release or remote cord such as the 10-pin connector type MC-30/MC-30A or MC-36/MC-36A or the MC-DC2 remote cord, which utilizes the accessory terminal on select cameras. I'm curious if anyone has ever tried using this one with the focus stacking.ĭefinitely have my curiosity piqued on the 900 sec timer of the Z6 ii & the D780. My primary macro is the 70-180mm micro (albeit a bit of a rare lens). The ability to crop though - that is of interest. To be honest, I'm not sure that I will ever you the native printing size available to the D850. The D850 will give you a much higher pixel count if you need to print at bigger sizes.Īppreciate the feedback. And you get the 900 second timer for astro-photography. In live view, it's basically a Z6, and in viewfinder mode, it's a classic Nikon DSLR. Much of the success depends on the lens and how much focus breathing is present.

HELICON REMOTE D5100 WILL NOT FUCUS SOFTWARE

I use the Helicon Focus software as well. I have the D780, and the focus stacking works very nicely. I suggest that you try some of the several remote control apps that do focus stacking on your existing cameras before deciding to go to the (great camera) D850 for that as the primary reason. IMO, Nikon's implementation is "Beta-ware, still (should be) under development". If you can't see it, you have lost the shot. If you can see that you have missed it (camera at ground, tiny screen) you can continue and do another x points without resetting it.

The D850 only allows you to set the near point, then guess how many "steps" to the far point. It's easier to see what you are doing on a tablet screen, esp if the camera is at ground level between tripod legs. The software I use (Helicon Remote) requires you to set both the near and far points. I have used remote control software via USB to my 9" tablet. I've been doing focus stacking for years on various Nikon bodies.

I really enjoy macro so I think the focus stacking on some of the bodies would be a real benefit. However, for some of my photos, I would like a full-frame camera. It's a great camera and have very few complaints. I've been enjoying my D500 for a number of years now. PROS: weight savings, eye detection?, better video?, in-body VR, 900 sec shutterĬON: lower pixel count, mirrorless & Z-mount PROS: better video?, high ISO, 900 sec shutter (astro!), f-mountĬON: slightly lighter duty, lower pixel count

PROS: pixel count, great AF, low ISO, F-mount, & arguably one of the most pro bodies. All of them are about the $2,500 mark right now and each has some good qualities. As such I'm having a hard time picking.

I do consider Z-mount as a con as I have established F-mount lenses. I tend towards macro, landscape, & astro. I don't do much video and don't see that changing much. I'm looking primarily at the D780, D850, & the Z6 II. Sorry to make another "what should I buy thread" but I could really use some help.
